  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Workshops

Literacy Volunteers of the Tarrytowns will offer a six-session workshop to train volunteer to tutors of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It will be held on consecutive Saturday mornings, October 18 - November 22. Participants will meet from 9:00 am to noon at the Warner Public Library in Tarrytown.

Upon completing the workshop, each trained tutor will teach English to an adult on a one-to-one basis. It is not necessary to speak another language or to have prior teaching experience. A commitment of two hours per week (minus vacations, etc.) is expected. At present there is a long waiting list of prospective students.

A workshop materials fee of $12.50 is collected at the first session. To register, stop in at the Warner Library, or phone the Library at 631-7734.
